Amber is a deep yellow to brownish (and sometimes green) transucent fossil resin used in jewelry. Amber jewelry has alway been very popular but with the release of the hollywood blockbuster "Jurasic Park" there has been renewed interest in the material. Like in the movie a small insect can often be found embedded in the amber. Amber is fossilized tree sap so it would be expected that insects could become trapped in the sap before it was fossilized. When cut and polished such amber is of great interest and therefore more valuable than an ordinary polished clear specimen. Amber is principally found along the sures of a large part of the Baltic and North Seas.
