 The multi-talented Asia Argento was born 20th September 1975, Rome, Italy and her name was registered as Aria Anna Maria Vittoria Rossa Argento. It would seem that her whole family are involved in the enterntainments industry, her mother is the actress Daria Nicolodi and her father the italian film director Dario Argento and her grandfather the producer Salvatore Argento. In 2001 she gave birth to a baby girl, Anna Lou (her father is Marco Castoldi, singer of the Italian glam rock band Bluvertigo). Her first appearance in a movie was in 1985 (Sogni e bisogni) and in 1989 she won an Italian Ciak Award for her lead role in Cristina Comencini's Zoo. More parts followed (La Chiesa and Nanni Moretti's Palombella rossa) and in 1982 she made an impact on the Cannes Film Festival with her role in Le Amiche del cuore.
In 1993 she made her English language debut in the movie Trauma which was directed by her father. She starred in another 2 movies directed by her father - La Sindrome di Stendhal (1996) and Il Fantasma dell'opera (1998). It was in Trauma that Asia made her first nude appearance which created a bit of a stir in her native Italy. Her love/haterelationship with the Italian media was fueled by Asia's eccentricities, her openness towards drugs, her erotic scenes and her increasing success (she won many awards for acting and directing).
Asia Argento Trivia:
• When registering her name the city's registry office refused to accept Asia as her name.
• Asia is also an accomplished write of short stories and a novel "I Love You Dirk" (1999).
• In 2001 Asia was involved in a hit-and-run accident and the media made the most of the fact that a bottle
of Absinthe was found in her car (it was a prop in a music video she was directing!)
• Asia has a number of tatoos including one of a winged angel on her lower abdomen, an eye on her
left shoulder and one of two snakes entwined around a sun on her lower back. .
• Her most recent career has had her starring alongside Vin Diesel (xXx), Samuel L. Jackson (xXx),
Harvey Keitel (Ginostra), Andie MacDowell (Ginostra), Dennis Hopper (Land of the Dead, The Keeper),
Kirsten Dunst (Marie-Antoinette) and Val Kilmer (Coin Locker Babies).
